After viewing these contemplative practices, I discover that they already exist within me. It seems like these practices would benefit those who do not experience such feelings. If I was to use the audio as a stress management, it would benefit me in another way. But if these exercises are meant for me to experience health, happiness, and wholeness, I'm not feeling that I have accomplished these wisdom. Even when I truly know that I'm someone who have a big heart, open minded, love, and compassion.
That is why nursing have always been my career of choice. I remember, when I first heard how I would have to go out to externship in order to pass the MA course; I was afraid at first, but the staff at the clinic, where I was at made me felt welcomed and I grew to love my job and enjoy serving the people. You can say, what I was doing gave me the sense of health, happiness, and wholeness. It was a feeling that I never felt before. Having those feelings, tells me, that is the job for me.
Psychospiritual development is essential to growth and development. It expands our consciousness by strengthening our capacity for attention, focusing our intention, revealing a penetrating wisdom, opening our heart, and brings to life the qualities of human flourishing. Even if we can achieve some or none of these wisdom, we can still grow in our own ways and flourish.

It is great that you already feel that you have your life together and that you already have health, happiness, and wholeness. However, don't close yourself off to new experiences or ideas because you feel that you already have everything. I think our growth and developemnt is never complete, it is something that we will work on our whole lives.
ReplyDeleteHi Hatsady,
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you are very aware of your internal resources in the interpersonal domain. I am impressed that you were able to relate that to your career. Since a nursing profession centers on helping people, it is a perfect means to reach the height of interpersonal development. Without a second thought, the integral practice program for you is the Life-as-Practice approach. What do you think?
Hi Hatsady,
ReplyDeleteI am glad that you have found a profession that you can feel fulfilled by. I often feel this way with my profession although, it is not all of the time. I am working on that part. It does make one want to get up in the morning and go to work. I feel sorry for those individuals who are not able to have a job that they can feel rewarded in a spiritual way.
At first, I did not think of my job in this way. I travel a lot and life on the road can be brutal and lonely. I remember one of my first eye opening experiences that let me know I was connected with my inner self. It happened about two years ago. It was in the middle of August and a rep urgently needed me for a case in Louisana. I was suppose to have the week at home with my family and a trip to Louisana in August was not a highlight for me. I begrudgingly flew down to Louisana. I almost missed my connecting flight and ran to catch it. I made it, but I broke my foot in the process. The next day, I limped into the OR and I was not in the best of moods. As the patient was wheeled into the OR, I realized that this was where I needed to be. It was a seven year old, blond, angel-like little girl who was having a special surgery. Doctors were flown in from around the world to help this little girl. She had been shot by her grandmother and the bullet injuried the nerve that controled her bowel and bladder. Without this special surgery, she would have to be cathed for the rest of her life. My main job was to keep her teddy bear warm and provide my expertise in monitoring. We did it and she now has use of her bowels and bladder. This experience made me aware of the fact that even though I was not providing direct patient care any more, what I was doing was important and fulfilling. Good luck with your career!
I wish I had had you as a nurse when I was in the hospital. My grandmother always told me that it takes a special kind of person to be a nurse. Apparently you are that special kind of person! People want kindness and compassion when they are ill or lying in a hospital bed. They don't want some sour-faced person barking orders at them and making them feel worse than what they already do. Keep up the great work, Hatsady. If nursing gives you a feeling of accomplishment, self-respect and peace then keep doing what you are doing and go for the gold! I wish you the best of luck in pursuing your MA. We're behind you all the way!
